Meet Dr Felicity Dent
(She/Her)
(She/Her)
Felicity was born in Footscray and grew up in the Western suburbs of Melbourne. After graduating from the University of Melbourne in 1996 she worked and trained locally and overseas and quickly developed a passion for Women’s Health. She completed General Practice training in 2003 with an understanding that primary care was the ideal setting to practice holistically. Felicity finds daily satisfaction in working with women to understand not only their physical symptoms but their emotional lives, relationships, work and socio-cultural context. While her practice largely focuses on cis-gendered women, she is able to rejoice in diversity of all kinds.
During her career Felicity has worked with girls and women in various clinical settings including General Practice, specialised sexual & reproductive/women’s health/ mental health services, in the custodial context and at the Sunshine Hospital Antenatal Clinic. More recently she has developed interests in health education and health literacy and has taken up positions as a Medical Educator with the RACGP and on the board of Pelvic Pain Victoria.
Clinically Felicity has a developed a particular interest in supporting women who live with persistent genito-pelvic pain, enabling them to navigate it’s complexities and find their strengths in managing this important, under-recognised and under-funded health problem. She also enjoys providing pregnancy care and is a Shared Maternity Care provider with local hospitals, and is trained to insert IUD’s (Mirena, Kyleena, copper) and Implanon.
