Patient Fees

Maxwell Medical Group is a mixed billing clinic. We believe that good healthcare cannot be rushed and that it takes time to listen and hear your concerns and to work with you to generate a management plan which is tailored to your needs.

For an initial appointment we ask that you please book a minimum 30 minute consultation to go through your medical history. Please note that for a new patient appointment there is a fee of $155, irrespective of whether you have a concession card or not.

A standard 15 minute consultation is appropriate once a therapeutic relationship has been established although these appointments are only suitable to deal with one non-complex medical problem.

We consider each appointment an opportunity to address your current medical concern as well as update and review your medication, review your lifestyle and help you identify any other areas for health improvement.

Bulk billing is at the discretion of your individual GP but most of the GPs offer bulk billing for children up to the age of 16, and for pension and healthcare card holders on weekdays.

Payments for consultations and other services can be paid in cash, by bank transfer or by EFTPOS. Please note that a surcharge is applied for EFTPOS.

PLEASE NOTE: None of the GPs offer any bulk billing at weekends

DNA (Did Not Attend)

Every week many appointments are sadly lost to non-attendance. The demand for GP appointments is at an all time high and these appointments could be given to other patients who need them. At Maxwell Medical Group failure to attend an appointment will incur a non-rebatable fee. The minimum DNA Fee is $50 but may be more depending upon the length and type of appointment you missed. Please note that Dr Jean Ong charges a DNA fee of $100 for missing a 30 minute or longer appointment.

Telehealth Appointments

At present we are able to offer telephone and telehealth (video) appointments. This is subject to change depending on Medicare. At present we are able to offer 15 minute telephone appointments as well as 15 video appointments. If you are registered with My Medicare, you will be eligible for 30 and 45 minute telephone and video consultations with your GP. In order for a GP to be able to offer a telephone or telehealth appointment, they first need to have seen you at least once in the last twelve months face to face. Please be mindful that they cannot carry out an examination via a telephone or video appointments. On weekdays, these are bulk billed if you hold a concession card, otherwise, there is an out of pocket fee involved identical to that of a standard face to face 15, 30 & 45 minute appointments.

Workcover Appointments

At Maxwell Medical Group we do not bill directly to your Workcover case managers. All consultation are paid by the patient at the time of the consultation who then claims the reimbursement from their Workcover case manager. The table below shows the standard consultation costs and out of pocket expenses.
