My Medicare is a voluntary patient registration system the Australian Government brought to formalise the relationship between patients and their general practice, general practitioner and primary care team. By registering with your chosen GP, additional funding is available from the government to assist your GP in delivering the care you need. In addition, Hospitals and treating specialists will know who your GP is and where to send correspondence and results. From the 1st of November 2023, to access video or telephone consultations of more than 20 minutes, you have to be registered with My Medicare, and only your registered general practice or general practitioner can carry out these consultations. In the future, access to care plans might only be available with your My Medicare registered GP.
Maxwell Medical Group is registered with My Medicare, and the government would like all patients to register with their regular clinic and preferred GP.
