Meet Dr Ivana Matic-Stancin
(She/Her)
(She/Her)
Dr Ivana started her medical career in Yugoslavia in the 1990s. She completed her junior training years in NZ. When she moved to Melbourne in 2008, she grounded herself in general practice due to her love of preventative medicine and excelling in health and human potential.
Ivana has always believed that there is more to offer her patients than just the prescriptions, procedures and medical interventions, which, although primarily necessary, are often not enough to alleviate the suffering of a disease.
Once she completed her training in Positive Psychology in 2013 and gained her fellowship in Lifestyle Medicine in 2019, she fully embraced her passion for disease prevention and health enhancement. Her particular area of interest is peri- and Menopausal Health. Ivana is a member of the Australasian Menopause Society and the British Menopause Society.
Ivana believes menopause is the stage of every woman’s life when, due to natural hormonal changes and the body signalling those changes, we can accelerate or slow the aging process depending on our lifestyle behaviour and the changes and choices we make in everyday life. Menopause can be a time of positive transformation. It can be a challenging time for many women. With the correct knowledge, understanding and support, this period can be a good opportunity for an overall health review, positive health transformation and a healthy transition into the third stage of life.

Ivana is passionate and diligent about exploring the latest evidence-based developments in lifestyle medicine, menopause health, neuroscience, women’s health, and the fascinating field of mind and body connection. Ivana is in her “zone” when working with her patients in the Menopause Clinic, exploring ways to prevent and reverse their chronic conditions, manage symptoms and improve their health.
In her spare time, Ivana is passionate about mindfulness and Yoga. She applies positive psychology in all her interactions with her family, friends, colleagues, and all humans and animals, including herself.
She loves cycling, watching foreign movies with open endings, swimming in cold water (when brave enough), laughing unreservedly, playing with dogs, practising Yoga, admiring nature and, whenever possible, spending time in the company of her two adult sons or her overseas family (a rare, therefore precious opportunity). She loves learning.
Ivana offers all the standard GP services, but her true passion lies in Perimenopausal Health and Lifestyle Medicine.
She provides long one-on-one appointments in My Menopause Clinic and a CBT six-week course for perimenopausal health-related issues.
